Non-emergency police numbers, by city and county
The ten-digit line to call when it is not an emergency — plus the county sheriff, how to file a report online, how to get a copy of a police or crash report, and where a towed car ends up. Read from each agency's own website, with the source and check date on every page.

Common questions
What counts as a non-emergency?
A crime that has already happened and the suspect has gone, a parked car blocking your driveway, a loud party, a minor collision with no injuries, a found wallet, a theft you need a report number for. If anyone is hurt or in danger, or a crime is happening right now, that is 911.
Why not just call 911 and let them transfer me?
Every non-emergency call on a 911 line occupies a dispatcher and a circuit that someone else may need in the next thirty seconds. Most agencies ask you to use the ten-digit line precisely so the emergency lines stay clear.
Is 311 the same as a police non-emergency line?
311 is a city services line — potholes, bulk pickup, noise complaints, parking. In some cities it also takes non-emergency police reports; in others it cannot, and there is a separate police number. Where a city runs 311, its page here says so.
Where do these numbers come from?
From the agency's own website, or from the federal law-enforcement registry when the agency does not publish a labelled non-emergency line. Each page shows the source URL and the date it was checked. Nothing is copied from commercial directories. See the Methodology page.
